Six men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 22-year-old man was stabbed to death in Clapham, south-west London.
Police were called to reports of a stabbing in the early hours of Saturday morning, with the victim later arriving at hospital with a stab wound. Despite the efforts of medics, he died shortly afterwards. His family has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers, the Met said.
Investigators believe the attack took place around 4.20am near Tremadoc Road and Clapham High Street. Officers have been carrying out inquiries in the area and are expected to maintain a visible presence while they continue to piece together what happened.
The six arrests were made after the incident as detectives moved quickly to identify those involved. Four of the men arrested were themselves taken to hospital with stab injuries, while two others were detained later as part of the same investigation.
Four other men were also treated in hospital for stab wounds after the incident. Their injuries were described as non-life-threatening or life-changing, according to the reports available.
Detectives have appealed for witnesses and anyone with footage from the area to come forward. They are particularly interested in CCTV, dashcam and doorbell recordings from around the time of the attack, which could help establish the sequence of events and identify everyone involved.
Clapham High Street and the surrounding roads are busy late at night, especially at weekends, and residents are likely to be concerned by the scale of the police response.
