Two people were taken to a major trauma centre after a crash involving a car and a lorry on Brighton Road in Purley.
The London Ambulance Service was called at 10.42am on Monday, August 31, following reports of a road traffic collision on the A235 Brighton Road.
Two ambulance crews and a paramedic in a fast-response car attended the scene.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said:
“We treated two people at the scene and took them both to a major trauma centre as a priority.”
The conditions of those taken to hospital are not currently known.
Brighton Road was closed in both directions for several hours while emergency services dealt with the incident. The road has since reopened.
The crash caused disruption on one of the main routes through Purley, with motorists advised to avoid the area while the closure was in place.
No further details about the circumstances of the collision, including whether anyone has been arrested, have been released.
