A 28-year-old man has been charged with arson with intent to endanger life after a fire at the Stanwell Hotel near Heathrow.
Surrey Police said officers were called to the hotel in Staines at around 9.40am on Saturday, August 29, following reports of a fire.
Jake Holder, from Ashford, has been remanded in custody and was due to appear at Guildford Crown Court on Tuesday, September 1.
The Stanwell Hotel is used to accommodate asylum seekers, according to police information reported by the BBC.
Surrey Police said officers were not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
The charge alleges that the fire was started with the intention of endangering life. Holder has not been convicted, and the allegation will be tested through the court process.
No further details about the circumstances of the fire, including whether anyone was injured or how extensive the damage was, have been released by police.
