  • Incident: Sexual assault on London tram in broad daylight.
  • Location: Travelling through Croydon, south London.
  • Victim: Unnamed woman assaulted during journey.
  • Time of Day: Occurred in daytime hours.
  • Transport: London Trams network involved.

An image of a man who police believe may be able to assist with their investigation has been made public.

On Wednesday, October 22 at approximately 3.40 p.m., she was attacked by a man seated next to her on the way from West Croydon to Blackhorse Lane tram stop.

A CCTV image of a man who police think may have knowledge about the event has been made public.

A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said:

“Detectives investigating a sexual assault on board a tram from West Croydon to Blackhorse Lane tram stop have released these CCTV images in connection.

On Wednesday 22 October 2025 at around 3.40pm a man sexually assaulted a woman sat next to him on the tram.

Detectives believe the man in these CCTV images may have information that could help with their investigation.”

What support services are available for sexual assault survivors in Croydon?

Sexual assault survivors in Croydon can access specialised support through force and Sexual Abuse Support Crisis South London( RASASC), which provides free comforting, Independent Sexual Violence lawyers( ISVAs), and remedial groups for women and girls aged 14.

South London force Crisis offers nonpublic helpline support( 08008010305), one- to- one comforting, and advocacy to navigate police reports or court processes, covering Croydon alongside Wandsworth and Merton. The Havens Sexual Assault Referral Centre delivers forensic medical examinations within 72 hours, extremity comforting, and follow- up health checks for recent assaults, accessible via 02032991599.

Galop supports LGBT survivors with advocacy and helplines( 08009995428), while SurvivorsUK aids manly andnon-binary individualities through remedy and peer groups. Bromley & Croydon Women’s Aid provides retreat outreach and threat assessments for those stewing further violence.

British Transport Police  laboriously  probe public transport assaults,  frequently releasing CCTV images of suspects, as seen in a December 2025 District Line case near Cannon Street where a man pursued a woman across seats. Croydon- area wagonette crimes  generally involve pickpocketing or verbal  importunity rather than daylight physical assaults, with TfL’s 24/7 reporting line( 03432221234) abetting  rapid-fire response.

Tramlink CCTV covers all carriages, automatically  waking staff to incidents; victims should note  questionable descriptions for immediate police logs. Croydon Council  finances  redundant details on routes like New Addington via East Croydon during peak vulnerability hours, though daylight events remain rare amid falling TfL sexual offence rates( down 15 time- on- time).

Contact British Transport Police via 61016R  textbook or 0800 40 50 40non-emergency, with independent Sexual Assault Referral Centres offering forensic examinations within 7 days. Lambeth/ Croydon Victim Care units  give free comforting, aligning with Met’s#TransportSafety  juggernauts promoting” report it, stop it” observer intervention.
