  • Player: Brennan Johnson.
  • Transfer: From Tottenham to Crystal Palace.
  • Fee: £35 million completed move.
  • Status: Deal officially finalized now.

The 24-year-old Wales international has committed to a four-and-a-half-year contract at Selhurst Park.

Despite being the leading scorer for the north London team the previous season, Johnson lost favor with Thomas Frank at Spurs. On Sunday, he will make his Premier League debut for Palace against Newcastle at St James’ Park.

“I’m really excited and I’m really happy,”

said Johnson.

“Crystal Palace are such a great club, one that I’ve always admired.

It’s a great time for me to be here and join the journey that this club is on.”

Palace manager Oliver Glasner said:

“I’m really delighted that Brennan has joined the club.

He arrives very early in the window, so credit to the club for making this happen so quickly.

Brennan will give us options in our attacking play with his pace and goalscoring ability and with all the upcoming games he will be a valuable addition to the squad.”

Johnson scored the game- winning goal against Manchester United in the Europa League final, ending Tottenham’s 17- time jewel failure. Johnson concluded the season with 18 appearances.

But since Frank took Ange Postecoglou’s place, he has substantially served as a backup to Mohammed Kudus, a summer arrival.

Johnson’s transfer to Palace was verified lower than a day before Tottenham’s goalless draw with Brentford on New Year’s Day, so he was conspicuously absent from the team.

Glasner, who stated that his weaker team was in” survival mode” after a 1- 1 draw with Fulham, will greatly profit from the deal.

After sharing in the Conference League after winning the FA Cup the previous season, Palace’s small team has set up it delicately to handle a demanding schedule this season.

Glasner stated that he only had 14 first- team players available for their 31st game of the season, which was against Fulham.

Johnson is Palace’s first significant investment since dealing Eberechi Eze to Arsenal for£ 60 million in August, and his appearance will add some glamour to the south Londoners.

Palace chairman Steve Parish said:

“I’m delighted that Brennan has joined us – an exciting young talent with an excellent recent record in domestic, continental and international football.

We feel we are the perfect place for Brennan to continue his already impressive journey, and his arrival bolsters our attacking options in what is proving our busiest season to date, competing on numerous fronts including, for the first time, in Europe.”

On Sunday, Palace, who are currently in tenth place in the standings, will visit Newcastle in an attempt to snap a six-match losing streak.

How might this transfer affect Palace’s starting lineup for Newcastle?

Brennan Johnson’s£ 35 million transfer from Tottenham positions him as an immediate team option for Crystal Palace’s Premier League match against Newcastle United on Sunday, January 4, 2026. director Oliver Glasner could emplace him on the right sect or as a forward, potentially displacing Ismaila Sarr or contending with Jean- Philippe Mateta up top.

A projected Palace XI might shift to a 4-2-3-1 Henderson; Clyne, Lacroix, Guehi, Mitchell; Hughes, Lerma; Johnson, Eze, Olise; Mateta. Johnson, eligiblepost-medical, brings pace and finishing to exploit Newcastle’s injury- hit defense without Botman and Elanga.

His Europa League- winning experience adds horsepower amid Palace’s thin team, with Richards and Nketiah sidelined. Glasner favors fluid attacks, where Johnson’s direct runs could craze Newcastle’s backline.
