Deptford stabbing leaves 23-year-old dead in Lewisham

The event occurred on December 31 at approximately 12:35 p.m. on Grove Street, close to Evelyn Street in Lewisham.

When officers and London Ambulance Service personnel arrived, they discovered a guy who had been stabbed.

At the scene, he was declared dead.

Police investigations are still ongoing, and no arrests have been made.

There is still a crime scene.

Detective Chief Inspector Sam Townsend, who is leading the investigation said:

“Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the victim’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.

Our investigation is progressing swiftly as we work to establish the full circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.

We understand that this will understandably cause concern within the local community.

Please be assured that we have increased patrols in the area, and this investigation remains our highest priority.”

What evidence has police released about the attack?

No specific substantiation has been intimately released by the Metropolitan Police about the Deptford pecking attack as of January 2, 2026. 

Officers verified the 23- year-old victim suffered a single stab crack to the casket on Grove Street near Evelyn Street, with the postmortem examination pending to determine the exact cause of death; they’re reviewing CCTV footage and conducting house- to- house enquiries but have participated no details on suspects, munitions, or substantiations. 

The disquisition remains active with a crime scene in place, and police appeal for anyone with dashcam, doorbell footage, or information to communicate with them via 101( CAD2852/ 31Dec). 

The Metropolitan Police verified the 23- time-old victim failed at the scene on Grove Street from a casket stab crack, with a postmortem examination pending; investigators are conducting CCTV enquiries and house- to- house calls but haven’t taken anyone into guardianship. 

They prompt substantiations or dashcam possessors to come forward or Crimestoppers anonymously, with a crime scene still in place. 

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene on Grove Street in Deptford, with no sanitarium treatment reported. 

London Ambulance Service and Air Ambulance paramedics treated him on ‑ point around 1235 GMT but verified death there due to the casket stab crack; a post ‑ mortem examination is pending to establish the exact medical cause.
