Location: Croydon, UK.

Victim: 41-year-old man.

Incident: Hit by car.

Injury: Serious head injury.

Police Action: Calling for witnesses.

Just after 9 p.m. on Monday, January 5, Croydon police were called to Brighton Road in South Croydon, close to the intersection with St. Augustine’s Avenue.

After being brought to the hospital, the man is still there.

The driver of the vehicle, who stopped at the scene, was detained on suspicion of causing serious injuries by reckless driving, according to the police, but he has since been released on bond.

Detective Sergeant Rob Groombridge, from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said:

“Our investigation is ongoing and we are in the process of collecting dash cam footage, CCTV and any other information that will help us with our enquiries.

I am appealing for anyone who saw the incident but has not yet spoken to police to contact us as soon as possible.”

Are there any CCTV or dashcam appeals from witnesses?

Metropolitan Police have explicitly appealed for CCTV footage, dashcam recordings, and helmet cam videos from substantiations to the January 9, 2026, collision involving a 41- year-old rambler on Brighton Road in Croydon.

Officers prompt anyone with applicable material landing the incident around 7:15 pm near Warham Road or the moments before/ after to communicate with them via 101 quoting CAD 7490/ 09JAN. This includes residents with home CCTV, motorists passing through, and cyclists with action cams, as the road check enabled original forensic recovery but broader content remains critical.

The motorist(man, 30s) stopped and assisted freely with no apprehensions; the victim’s serious head injury status underscores urgency. Analogous prayers accompany most South London road collisions, prioritizing digital substantiation over statements alone for line and speed analysis.
