Police are appealing for help to identify a man after an attempted rape on a Bakerloo line train in central London.
British Transport Police said the attack happened at about 11.40pm on Saturday, July 11, on a train between Waterloo and Lambeth North. The woman was reportedly approached by a man who exposed himself, dragged her to the floor and tried to rape her, before she managed to fight back and leave the train at Lambeth North, where she raised the alarm with station staff.
The suspect was later seen getting off at Elephant and Castle, placing the incident squarely within a route familiar to South London commuters. Officers believe he may also have been at Oxford Circus before the attack and Piccadilly Circus afterwards, and one line of inquiry is that he may be homeless.
Detective Sergeant Krishan Appannah said officers were supporting the victim and urged anyone who recognises the man in the CCTV images to come forward, stressing that he may have important information for the investigation.
