On Sunday morning, January 11, firefighters in Southwark contended to save a woman from a house fire on Sturdy Road in Peckham.Â
A two- story terraced home on Sturdy Road, between Harold Moody Park and Consort Park, had half of its ground floor damaged by the fire.
Firefighters used a nine- cadence graduation to deliver a woman from a first- bottom window.
The London Ambulance Service treated her for bank inhalation on the spot.Â
At 7:45 a.m., the Brigade entered the first of three calls. Control Officers dispatched three fire machines and about fifteen firefighters from stations on New Cross, Peckham, and Old Kent Road to the position.
By 8:22 a.m., the fire had substantially been put out.
It’s allowed that an open fire that spread to the flooring caused the incident, which is being treated as an accident.
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson added:
“Firefighters recommend that you have a look at our online Home Fire Safety Checker to make sure there are no hidden hazards in your home.    Â
The online tool will ask you a series of questions that will help us work out the level of risk in your home, or the home of someone you care for. It only takes a few minutes to get tailored advice to keep yourself and loved ones safe from fire.”
What injuries did the rescued woman sustain and her condition?
The woman saved from the Sturdy Road house fire in Peckham entered treatment for bank inhalation after London Fire Brigade crews uprooted her via a nine- metre graduation from a first- bottom window.
London Ambulance Service paramedics handed on- scene treatment for her respiratory injuries caused by a thick bank filling the two- storey terraced property where half the ground floor was ablaze. No becks or trauma reported beyond inhalation goods from the accidental open fire that spread to floorboards.
Her condition stabilised post-treatment with no sanitarium admission needed, typical for moderate bank inhalation cases where oxygen remedy and monitoring serve. LFB verified all inhabitants were deemed safe following the multi-station response from New Cross, Peckham, and Old Kent Road crews.
